Not Your Grandma's Theatre

At Aftershock, we believe that art, at its core, should enhance humanity’s quest for ‘truth’ – that is to say understanding of our existence and our lives. It should force the audience to confront difficult questions about themselves, their lives and society. However, this pursuit of truth can only succeed when audience members engage with the ideas presented on stage outside of the auditorium. As such, Aftershock’s provides a safe space for people to discuss the art they have seen and delve into the issues raised while socializing both with friends and family, but also with people of different backgrounds and experiences.

Going to Aftershock Theater will not just be attending the theatre, but rather actively experiencing theatre. Each play will be accompanied by a comprehensive set of engagement activities to empower participants to reflect and learn as a community.
